Goodbye Mr. Jumbo

2 Nov

You have bid adieu to test cricket, but you will be remembered for years to come. It will be difficult to find a fighter like you for the Indian team. How can we forget those 10 wickets, especially of India’s arch rival in the Kotla test. The unorthodox spinner that everyone wrote off and predicted will wear out soon. You have proved everyone wrong picking up more than 600 wickets on all sorts of tracks across the world.

You have bid adieu to cricket, it will be difficult to imagine someone stepping into your shoes with your attitude. Everytime India was in trouble picking up wickets of the opposition, I prayed that you get one and most of the times you did. You are one of the difficult bowlers to face. Playing sub-continent spinners is tough and if the spinner does not bowl spin but something else it gets all the more difficult.

You have bid adieu to the Indian team, but I hope you still keep sharing your valuable experience with the Indian team for years to come. On the firing line and expected to retire you have captained India and did it well.

We will miss you Mr. Jumbo.
